Life in Belize – Cafés around San Pedro

Who doesn’t enjoy a great cup of coffee?  Even though it’s warm here in the Caribbean, we can certainly appreciate a good cup of Joe! Recently we have  seen several good Cafés opening up all around town.

When you come for a visit, be sure to stop in at least once at the local’s favorite Celi’s Deli. They are open early which is perfect if you have tours lined up. Their friendly staff is certainly a plus in the early mornings. They have good cup of Joe and its only $2BZE. Its a takeout spot so once you have your coffee and breakfast ( I recommend a loaded flour tortilla) you can go out on their deck, which is on the beachfront, to enjoy your morning snack.. No better way to start the day!

If you prefer to sit and relax in the A/C while sipping your coffee, there are other locations that offer better atmosphere for that.

In Town, one of my favorites is the Chocolate Factory. They have the cutest French Press, on which they serve you your coffee. It good coffee too! There you have the option of sitting inside, its air conditioned! Perfect for those hot days. They also have an outdoor deck with a beautiful view to the Caribbean Ocean, nicely cushioned benches and picnic tables, so you have choices. It’s the perfect little place to meet with a friend and enjoy your brew together. Of course you have to get a chocolate cookie while there made with freshly made choco chips..YUM!

A new local’s favorite is the new place in town. Rum & Bean Coffee Shop, its a bit out of the way, but it is pleasant, clean and offers a great little cozy area to enjoy your coffee and more. There are new signs all over town advertising this spot. It is down south about 2 miles from the center of town. So if you are biking down south or have a cart and need to make a stop for a refreshment, this a good place to check out. It’s well hidden inside Mahogany Bay, a new development down south. It is a beautiful little house with chic décor inside. A definite must stop…,if you pop in on a Saturday you can check out the farmers market located a few doors down.

San Pedro has a lot to offer and you need to keep awake to enjoy it all. So grab your cup of Joe and start your day right!
