CHOOSING THE RIGHT PROPERTY
There are a host of great properties available. What you’ll have to think about is whether your design will fit on the property or not. Different areas of the island of Ambergris Caye have different building restrictions. For instance, some are zoned residential only, some may have restrictions on setbacks and some areas may even regulate the height of your home. FINDING A CONTRACTOR
There are amazing builders on Ambergris Caye. However, what you’ll find is there are a fair amount of them. How can you find the right one? When hiring a contractor, ask for references and view some of their completed work. WHAT WILL IT COST?
Your design and building site will determine the cost more than anything. Isolated properties will drive costs up as will odd shapes, high-volume rooms and high-end materials will drive the cost up substantially. So will changing your mind mid-stream, as most materials should be ordered at the beginning of the job in order to maintain a momentum of delivery and construction. I’d suggest getting several estimates from different reputable contractors. Be open as to what you are looking for and what types of finishing you’ll accept.
